Some series within the BMW brand are closely related. The 2020 BMW 4 series, for instance, bears more than a passing resemblance to the BMW 3 Series, but offers some features all its own — and some great updates for the new model year. If you want a car that looks as striking as the performance it delivers, it’s time to visit BMW of El Cajon.
2020 BMW 4 Series Details
- Turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (430i)
- 248hp / 258 lb-ft torque
- Turbocharged 3.0L I6 engine (440i)
- 320hp / 330 lb-ft torque
- Six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission
- RWD or xDrive AWD
There are three different body styles available for the 2020 BMW 4 Series, a Coupe, a Cabriolet, and a Gran Coupe. The former pair are essentially 2+2 layout, while the Gran Coupe offers a longer roofline, a hatchback in place of a trunk, and four doors, so the back seat is more comfortable for your passengers.
Exterior changes to this year's BMW 4 Series include black grille surrounds, a new rear diffuser, new paint colors, new wheel designs, and darker taillights. Inside, you'll find carbon-fiber trim and new Mocha Dakota leather. Aside from some shuffling of option packages, it's much the same as last year's model in most other respects (save for safety, which we'll get to presently).
2020 BMW 4 Series Safety and Special Features
The net result of the aforementioned feature and option reshuffle is that there are more safety features included as standard equipment. These include pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and a few others that our BMW dealer near San Diego will show you.
In common with other new BMW vehicles, comfort features are a mix of standard equipment (10-way power front seats, a moon roof, navigation, and Bluetooth™ among them) and options, both standalone (like the excellent 600-watt Harmon/Kardon sound system) and packages. The latter should also be discussed with your BMW dealer, though we particularly suggest the Executive Package, with its adaptive headlights, top-view camera, and parking assist features.
- More active safety features standard this year
- Apple CarPlay by subscription (trial initially)
- Standard navigation
- Many options and packages available
